Her technical expertise has served her well while plotting, she rarely loses the plot or leaves loose ends unresolved. While she is a plot-oriented author, her prose is rhythmic and clear, and she has been known to write an eloquent turn. of phrase.
Frances' first novel, The Adventures of Ava Aldeberg is a fantasy that, while appropriate for a YA audience, seeks to follow in the footsteps of larger fantasy sagas that have been enjoyed by readers of all ages for many years. I believe that fantasy is for all ages, and therefore seek to write fantasy that is approachable for upper middle grade readers. While based on the traditional adventure story structure found in Treasure Island or Gulliver’s Travels, modern comparable titles would be Brandon Sanderson's Tress of the Emerald Sea and Robin McKinley's The Blue Sword.
