Intentions and Declarations for The Blog
Hello there! Welcome to my writing blog, where I intend to track my progress, document how I came up with my ideas and developed them, and how I attempt to get published. Naturally I've been considering how to go about publishing my first book since I completed the first short story, so now that I'm at 120k words (and counting down to the end!) I figured it was finally time to start putting myself out there. As an author.
Good God, can you imagine how insufferable I will be if I make it? Probably not too bad after the first month or so. I'm not a huge fan of traveling, and from what I gather, book tours are a lot of traveling without exploring. I enjoy the exploring and visiting aspect of traveling, it's the getting there I can't stand. And doesn't that just put my current situation in perspective? Love the exploring and digging into ideas and drafting and plotting and writing and editing but then BAM! Time to make sure you get it in front of people (all so you can find the right people).
It'll be worth it in the end. I'm sure I'll enjoy having a (heavily filtered) diary of my creative process, but just like receiving feedback when I first started writing: the learning curve is steep and it stings. I'm sure I'll adjust. While I can't handle being bad at another thing right now (why I have not kept up with drawing), this is so tangential to writing that I'm sure I can handle being bad at blogging for a little while.
I suppose now is as good a time as any to explain the FEW. Other items you should check out are my Snippets and Bows. Bows are completed short stories I've written. Snippets are excerpts from my stories, and I like to start at the beginning. So the first few chapters of my novel The Adventures of Ava Aldeberg are posted there. Be warned, most of the Snippets are more true to their name, Ava is just getting more exposure right now since I'm planning to wrap that story up in the coming year. I can't emphasize The Adventures of Ava Aldeberg enough (henceforth referred to as Triple-A). While it's not the first story I've ever written, it's the first novel, and it's the story I've chosen to turn me into an author. It's the entire reason I decided to create a website.
Aren't you excited? I'm excited. Finally wrapping up this story I've been working on since 2023 and launching it out into the world... what could go wrong? (don't answer that).
